I just came back from Toronto on Tuesday night and I'm super exited to share this first timers guide to Toronto.
Must Do List
UP Express - New and super convenient! Around $12.35 per person for one way trip. In only 25 minutes, you will reach Union Square Station. Direct access from the Toronto Pearson International Airport. You may buy tickets online on your mobile phone or at the self serve machines. There is a train every 15 minutes. Daily 05:30 AM to 01:00 AM. More information: www.upexpress.com
CN Tower - I suggest to have dinner around 6:30 pm, this way you will watch the sunset and also view the lovely night view. When you dine with the 2 course prix fixe menu (Around $65 per person) , admission to the observatory two floors down is automatically included. Perfect for couples, its very romantic. And families will have fun too, enjoying the panoramic views. The revolving restaurant is called 360 and it moves very slowly, so don't worry..you won't feel dizzy. Just remember your section number, when you get up to the restrooms. Dinner reservations may be made on www.opentable.com.
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada - Located right beside the CN Tower, you could plan a visit before having dinner. I suggest at least 1.5 hour here. The best part is the moving trail where you get mesmerized by the huge underwater tank, you will feel like you are under the sea! Stingrays and sharks will swim by frequently.
Toronto Waterfront Broadwalk - Enjoy a relaxing sunset stroll by the water. Many locals bring a picnic basket and sit by the broadwalk. Its always lively here, its the perfect place to chill.
Niagara Falls and Niagara on the lake - Either rent a car for the day or join a day tour to Niagara Falls. A must-see to complete the Toronto experience. Take the ferry ride and experience the falls close up. A rain jacket is included and a friendly reminder, your shoes may get soaking wet! If time allows, enjoy a quaint afternoon tea at The Prince of Wales Hotel at the Niagara-on-the-lake.
Canoe Restaurant et Bar - An establishment in the Toronto food scene. Fine dining with a scenic view on the 54th of the TD Centre. Book a table in advance, as it fills up quickly. If you would like to go all in, book a table for dinner. If you would like to get taste, try this place for lunch/brunch. Two course lunch around $90 for 2 persons. The lunch atmosphere is buzzing, filled with mostly business men and a few tourists.
Delta Toronto - I highly recommend this hotel. Brand new and very hip. Can't beat the location, the UP express is connected to a sky bridge, taking you directly to your hotel. Fast free wifi, super friendly service from all the front desk staff and housekeeping. The breakfast buffet is small but delicious at Soco Kitchen. My favourite part of the hotel was the indoor heated swimming pool. And our room on the 40th floor has views of the CN Tower and the lake. I didn't want to leave.
I really enjoyed my 3 days getaway trip to Toronto. I have a feeling I will be back soon.
Cheers!
